Lui Medina, Barbara Fragogna, Renzo Marasca, Sebastiano Mortellaro, Davies Zambotti, Dharma Bum , Christina Quisumbing Ramilo, Paulo Vinluan headline this group show at the Greenhills gallery.
The event will be at Art Informal Greenhills on 5 May 2018 6PM.
Julio San Jose revisits theology in consideration of an influence, extraterrestrial in nature, as manifested in early civilization. In “The Garden,” he brings us a view of a highly mechanized mise-en-scène of the very genesis of man.
In “Over the Weather & Under the Radar,” Gino Bueza creates re-readings of various references incorporating gestures to existing works using both painting and text through print media to show dynamic wordplay and peculiar associations.
JC Jacinto reimagines the amorphic qualities of rocks and land formations as possible reflection on the inter-connectedness of all and the being-ness outside of being humans in “In No Vestige of A Beginning, No Prospect of An End.”
Renz Lee utilizes the two-dimensional applications of collage making to bridge the gap between art and social realities in “Cut, Paste, Politics.”
Cian Dayrit’s “Pasyon” references Rey Ileto’s Pasyon and Revolution, the seminal text that limned the conceptual world of various resistance movements from 1840-1910 through the lens of popular devotional practices in the Philippines.
In Beyond;, Eslao exposes how religious routines can turn well-meaning rituals into empty, absurd habits. The title of the solo ends with a semicolon so the spectator can add their own (meta)question and other transcendental speculations, insinuating that man decides his end and destiny—we are the master of our beyond.
The exhibition runs until 12 February.
